Blockchain infrastructure as it is built today supports mainly the development of dApps; however, there are so many additional industry use cases that could benefit from decentralization and other blockchain features. Unfortunately, blockchain wasn’t built for mainstream use; fortunately, many companies are working to adapt blockchain for mainstream adoption. DAG is gaining acceptance as a platform because it helps address the many of the problems blockchain is facing.
For example, COTI is building a DAG-based platform for use by merchants, governments, decentralized payment networks and stable coins, already used by COTI Pay, a network of 5,000 merchants and 80,000 users. Using the DAG allows COTI to facilitate over 10,000 transactions per second, much more than could potentially be required by a major payment provider (VISA requires approximately 4,000 transactions per second in its peak time).
