There are many interested parties, as well as strong wallets that hold the currency, that probably act together in order to create the volatility from which they profit. Slowly, as Bitcoin will be reaching its maximum circulation, it will possibly give way to other coins, possibly more usable in terms of technology, like Ether, which is backed by the Ethereum platform and model, upon which the majority blockchain solutions are currently built. In order to reach dominance, the coin will need to be backed either by assets (e.g. real estate, diamonds, luxury goods, etc.) or valuable technology.
